Who can apply?

The Community Grants Program is open to registered not-for-profit organisations that hold public liability insurance of at least $20 million and are located within the Marinus Link project area in Gippsland, Victoria, and North West Tasmania.

How to apply

Completed applications should be emailed to team@marinuslink.com.au and include “COMMUNITY GRANT APPLICATION” in the email subject line.

Important Community Grants Program Information

• Applications are received and assessed by the Marinus Link Team.
• Marinus Link receives many requests and is unable to support all applications, even where they meet the assessment criteria.
• Applications are assessed against a range of considerations, including:
  • Resources required to deliver the partnership.
  • Opportunities for community engagement.
  • Alignment with Marinus Link’s Sustainability Framework.
  • Compatibility with other funding partners.
• Organisations may apply for a Community Grant after receiving either a General Sponsorship or Event Sponsorship in the previous financial year.
• Assessment occurs after the application period has closed.
• Marinus Link may contact applicants if further information is required.
• Marinus Link reserves the right to refuse to consider an application if it determines the applicant does not meet the criteria.
• Successful applicants will be required to enter into a formal Grant Agreement.
• Funding is conditional upon execution of the Grant Agreement.
• Successful applicants must provide:
  • A project evaluation and acquittal.
  • Information to support annual reporting requirements.
  • Participation in promotional and media opportunities where requested.

Community Grants Application Criteria

Marinus Link considers applications to Community Grants that demonstrate:

• Registered not-for-profit status.
• Current public liability insurance of at least $20 million.
• Located within eligible project communities.
• An outline of the project or initiative.
• An outline of the organisation’s values.
• Alignment with Marinus Link’s Sustainability Framework.
• Project delivery and governance arrangements.
• Expected outcomes and estimated community reach.
• Full project budget, including other funding contributions.
• Evidence of up to two supporting quotes from contractor / supplier.
• Community support and how Marinus Link will be recognised.
• Encourage positive promotion of Marinus Link.
• Create a meaningful difference in communities directly related to the project.
• Deliver tangible, long-term community benefits.
• Demonstrate a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
• Request of funding up to $5,000.

Examples of Community Grants we may support

• Minor community facility improvements (with a letter of support from the asset owner).
• Training and education initiatives.
• Environmental initiatives.
• Essential and safety equipment.

Examples of Community Grants we will not support

• Sponsorship applications.
• Event support applications.
• Non safety related uniforms.
• Applications from purely commercial organisations.
• Applications exceeding $5,000.
• Applications outside the eligible locations.
• Commercial projects, enterprises or individuals.
• High-risk initiatives or those with poor safety or environmental performance.
• Projects or organisations inconsistent with Marinus Link’s purpose or vision.
• Overtly political or religious organisations.

Marinus Link reserves the right to refuse any application at its sole discretion. All decisions are final.
