Partnership and community inclusivity is at the heart of the new Community Partnership Program (Program), launched today by Marinus Link and the Burnie City Council.

Through the Program, two successful applicants will receive $20,000 each year over three years, that’s $60,000 in total, to run a project/initiative in the Burnie area.

Marinus Link Chief Executive Officer Caroline Wykamp said Marinus Link has a vision to create a positive legacy in the communities where the project is proposed.

“We have developed the Program with the Burnie City Council to encourage applications that focus on skills growth or employment pathways, positive environmental outcomes, and community legacy and inclusivity,” she said.

“Along with local employment opportunities through the construction of the project, Marinus Link is funding the Program to empower local community groups and organisations to make a positive impact in Burnie.”

Burnie City Council Mayor Teeny Brumby said the Council were excited to launch the Program with Marinus Link and seeing their community’s vision come to life.

“There are opportunities to apply for projects that lead to positive environmental outcomes, as well as projects that have lasting community benefits in terms of inclusivity and connectedness,” Mayor Brumby said.

“We want our community to think outside the box and come up with creative ways to focus on the development of skills and employment pathways for the people in our area; something that will bolster our community’s ability to garner the benefits that will come from being the renewable energy hub on the North West coast of Tasmania.”

The first Program round is open from 21 September 2023 and will close on 21 November 2023. Successful applicants will be notified in early 2024.

Marinus Link has committed $40,000 a year over 10 years to the Burnie City Council to deliver the Program.
