Marinus Link calls on local businesses to meet lead contractors
Tasmanian and Victorian businesses are being invited to meet the lead contractors delivering the Marinus Link energy infrastructure project, before construction begins next year.
Meet the Contractors industry briefings will be held in Burnie, Leongatha and Traralgon in December, giving suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers a detailed look at supply chain opportunities and construction timelines.
The $3.85bn national project recently achieved financial close and secured its final lead contractor for the construction of the converter stations in Tasmania and Victoria and the land cable civils works, spanning 90km across Gippsland.
“Our lead contractors will need strong local business capability to deliver on this massive construction campaign,” Marinus Link Pty Ltd CEO Stephanie McGregor said.
“The events are designed to connect local businesses directly with our delivery team and lead contractors to learn what skills and services will be needed as construction ramps up next year.”
Marinus Link staff, industry agencies, and representatives from lead contractors will be in attendance, including:
- TasVic Greenlink (Joint venture of DT Infrastructure and Samsung C&T)
- Hitachi Energy
- Prysmian Powerlink
- Spiecapag
The upcoming Meet the Contractor events follow industry briefings held in February, which resulted in more than 500 business registrations through the Industry Capability Network (ICN). These were then passed on to the shortlisted contractors as they developed their tenders.
“ICN’s role is to bridge the gap between project opportunity and supplier readiness. Through our Gateway platform and face-to-face events, we’ve helped local businesses position themselves with shortlisted Marinus Link contractors, demonstrating the power of collaboration and coordinated supply chain activation,” ICN Victoria CEO Nick Foa said.
Sessions are tailored for Tasmanian and Victorian suppliers, subcontractors, manufacturers, consultants, and service providers spanning civil construction, electrical, engineering, logistics, accommodation, catering, security, skills and more.
The events are free to attend and will be held in:
- Burnie | 2 December 10 am – 12:30 pm | Burnie Arts Centre
- Leongatha | 4 December, 10 am – 12:30 pm | Leongatha Memorial Hall
- Traralgon | 5 December, 10 am – 12:30 pm | Traralgon Town Hall
