An easement is needed in Victoria for the transmission infrastructure that will run underground between Waratah Bay and the greater Hazelwood area.
An easement is a formal agreement between Marinus Link and directly affected landowners which covers a specific area that is registered on a property title. It provides Marinus Link with a legal right of access to construct and operate the transmission infrastructure in an agreed area of land.
There are three key steps towards negotiating an easement:
- Obtain an Access Licence to provide access for field surveys to refine the route
- Once the preferred route has been confirmed, negotiate an Easement Option Agreement
- Once the Project is approved and progresses to construction, the Easement Option will be exercised and subsequently the easement will be registered on the title
Marinus Link is committed to working respectfully and considerately with all landowners during this process.
